14th Anniversary of “Enema of the State”

blink 182’s third studio album, “Enema of the State,” celebrates its 14th anniversary today!

Check out what Mark Hoppus has to say about the occasion below:
Wow. 14 years. Thanks for the birthday wishes. Here’s some trivia about the artwork. There are three different versions. Initial release version has the red cross on the nurse’s hat and a capital B Blink-182. We’d always preferred the lower case b, so the artwork was changed to the second version: red cross on the nurse’s hat, lower case b blink-182 (my favorite). We were then contacted by the Red Cross that, as we are in no way a medical organization (which I would debate. one time I changed a band-aid), we should not have a red cross on our artwork. If we continued using the red cross logo, we would be in violation of the Geneva Convention. (for real). Thus, the third iteration of the artwork: no red cross, lower case b blink-182.

This record changed our lives. Thanks to everyone who has supported it through these years. It still makes me happy to be onstage and hear Tom start the opening riff of What’s My Age Again. Looking forward to new music in the future.

And by the way, it’s “wore cologne,” not “walk alone.”

Travis Barker, famously known as the drummer from Blink 182, is using his personal YouTube channel to teach fans and aspiring percussionists technical skills for learning the basics of drumming. Barker is reaching out to people by imparting his nearly impeccable drumming skills into these videos which are cleverly titled, The Crash Course. Throughout his career, Barker has shown a deft mastery in many different styles of drumming including: punk, ska, rock, and hip-hop. The first video in the instructional series can be seen below, and the lesson plan entails warm-up techniques, stretches, and easy drumming exercises.

Blink-182 Documentary Outdated?

tumblr_mijkqeWaid1qen5t0o1_500There has been a lot of talk about a documentary about Blink-182, a “blinkumentary” as some people call it. However, in a recent podcast during the Soundwave Festival in Austrailia, Tom Delonge has announced that the documentary is a work in progress, since a lot of what has been recorded and finished is a misrepresentation of the band. Check out the podcast with Tom Delonge and Mark Hoppus here for more information!

Soundwave Collaboration Performance

All Time Low covered Blink 182’s “Dammit” during a Soundwave show in Australia on Monday. They collaborated with Luke McChesney from Forever Ends Here and Jaime Precicado from Pierce The Veil. They sound pretty rad! Watch!

Blink 182 was able to reschedule two of the North American shows at the Winstar Casino in Thackerville, OK already, for September 13th and 14th.  In addition, two shows in Las Vegas were added.

The U.S. shows are as follows:

Sept. 13 – Winstar Casino – Thackerville, OK

Sept. 14 – Winstar Casino – Thackerville, OK

Sept. 28 – Boulevard Pool at the Cosmopolitan – Las Vegas, NV

Sept. 29 – Boulevard Pool at the Cosmopolitan – Las Vegas, NV

Tickets are available on the band’s website here.

Travis Barker May Be Heading To Australia

It was recently announced that Travis Barker would not be joining his band mates    in Australia on their upcoming tour this winter. Four years ago Barker was involved in a fatal plane crash that left him in critical condition, since then Barker has not been in a plane, keeping the band limited to buses and boats for tours. Blink-182 was planning on getting a fill in drummer for the tour, but that might not be necessary anymore. In a recent interview with Red Bulletin magazine Barker opens up about his fear and how it effects the band, and the possiblity of him joining the band in Australia:

“I’m contemplating getting knocked out and getting on a plane to Australia. I want to overcome that eventually. When I do, I think it’s going to be Qantas. They never had a crash, never had a fatality — knock on wood. It’s something I want to overcome for me — and my kids are scared to death to fly. I want them to witness me overcome it.”

Transplants announce new music

Transplants, side project of Blink 182’s Travis Barker and Rancid’s Tim Armstrong, has announced that there are growing plans for them to release a new album this summer.  For the new release, Kevin “Sweatshop” Bivona and Rob Aston, also known as Skinhead Rob, will be joining the previously mentioned members.  This was announced at a recent show where the band also performed a new song titled “In A Warzone.” The performance can be seen here.
