Evanescence Release Limited Edition Vinyl of ‘Fallen’

Evanescence released a limited edition purple vinyl in honor of the tenth anniversary of their album, Fallen, which was released on March 4th of 2003. The band’s website reads, “To celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Evanescence chart-shattering album, ‘Fallen’, Wind-up Records is releasing, for the first time ever, a limited-edition full length purple vinyl.”

Evanescence’s New Music Video

Evanescence filmed a new music video for their second single off their self-titled album, “My Heart Is Broken.” This song has stood out immensely from all the other tracks on their album as it was the one Amy Lee fought to get on the Breaking Dawn soundtrack but, sadly, it did not make it.  “My Heart Is Broken” is a beautiful melody that opens people’s eyes to heart break and how much pain you have to live with inside of you.

Album Review: Evanescence

It  has been 5 years since we were serenaded with ʻThe Open Door,ʻ introducing to us
that they had opened the door to every emotion from the good to the dangerous. Since
then, Evanescence went on a long break to find themselves again as a band and to use
the time to write and create a new sound. Amy Lee said that she had taken harp
lessons and was in love with what it could do. No matter what, people turn to
Evanescenceʼs music when they are feel depressed or if their anger is uncontainable
and can only be suppressed through their music.

Evanescenceʼs first single off their self-titled album, “What You Want,” shows off their
signature rebellious, hard rock sound. The songs lets loos their uncontrollable emotions
that fits into their lyrics describing someone who tries controlling you, but instead you
tell them that they can do whatever they want, and Iʼll do what I want. “Hello, hello,
remember me? Iʼm everything you canʼt control. Somewhere beyond the pain, there
must be a way to believe.” “What You Want” definitely reminds everyone what got us
addicted to Evanescence.

The next track has been discussed the most often by lead singer, Amy Lee, as she
fought for a place on the soundtrack, “Breaking Dawn Pt. 1.” The song “My Heart Is
Broken” has the power to become as big as their hit track, “Bring Me To Life.” The song
describes the pain and darkness that overcomes you when you are torn away from the
person you love. “I will wander til the end of time, torn away from you.” It is difficult
finding you heart when youʼve lost the ability to us it for what it allows us to feel.

My favorite track, “Lost In Paradise” seems to hold true to the same emotion relatable to
their song, “My Immortal” from their debut album. The song describes feeling lost with
your love and when they try to resurrect you, you find that there is nothing left to bring
back. You are lost in a paradise that never existed, consumed with hopeless promises,
leaving you with nothing to hold on to. “I have nothing left. And all I feel is this cruel
wanting. Weʼve been falling all this time and now Iʼm lost in this paradise.” The past
comes back causing her so much pain that it tears her away from her love. All she had
was him and now that she has lost him, all that remains is the feeling of being all alone
and lost in this world.

The last track on the album, “Swimming Home,” has the similar grace and power their
song “Good Enough” had on us. “ Weighed down, Iʼve been way down, underneath this
skin waiting to hear my name again.” The song expresses her sorrow to someone who
had a strong hold on her and nothing can hold her like that ever again. She feels at
home knowing whomever she lost is somewhere she can find when she needs them.
This song is an instant tear-jerker if you have ever felt loss or feeling completely along.
Even though you know that person you miss is somewhere they can be happy, their
loss from you life will leave an empty gap that can never be filled.

Overall, Evanescence has kept up with the style they have grown and perfected over
the years. The five year break seemed to benefit the band; having them test new
sounds and Amy Lee taking up harp lessons and taking on more complicated piano
rhythms. No matter what, Evanescence will always be a necessary band to be in my
playlists because their music contains strong emotions of falling in love and losing love,
and the deep hole of depression we are all susceptible to. Their music made me realize
that Iʼm not alone in what I feel emotion wise and making me strong enough to
overcome those dark emotions no matter lost I may feel.
