We Are The In Crowd released the music video for their latest single, Kiss Me Again, featuring Alex Gaskarth on MTV. The video is inspired by Say Anything and, well, is pretty freakin’ adorable. It’s worth checking out here!

No Room For Rockstars movie release
No Room For Rockstars, a documentary about the rough and rewarding life on the 2010 Vans Warped Tour, releases today on iTunes. Buy it here.
“With more than 300 hours of film shot during the 2010 tour, No Room For Rockstars documents the true stories of modern era rock and roll from every possible angle. From the kids in the van playing parking lots to gain notice, to the veteran stage manager whose life was saved by the tour, to the musician who crosses over to mainstream success while on the road, No Room For Rockstars is cinema vérité story-telling at its finest. A historical retrospective or concert film this is not. No Room For Rockstars is meaningful insight into current state of rock and roll and the zeitgeist of youth culture.”

Demi Lovato’s MTV documentary of her recovery
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve heard about Demi Lovato’s story. Her being pushed into stardom on Disney Channel, her battles with depression, self harm, and eating disorders and going into treatment for those issues and coming out better than ever. I thought this coming out of this emotion wrought journey was perfectly summed up in Demi’s single, Skyscraper, which moved me to tears the first time I heard it. And the second. And probably the thirtieth as well.
Demi Lovato tells more of her story in her MTV documentary, “Stay Strong” which will premier on Tuesday, March 6th at 10pm.
You can read more about the documentary and watch the trailer here. If you’re anything like me, it’ll move you to tears the first time you watch it. And the second. And probably the thirtieth as well.
If you like this, you’ll LOVE that: Jack’s Mannequin & Wakey! Wakey!
If you’re anything like I am, the news that Andrew McMahon is considering retiring the Jack’s Mannequin name shook you to the core. Sure, McMahon, who is almost undoubtedly one of the best and most inspirational musicians around, will continue making music, but I really became attached to Jack’s Mannequin and its phenomenal piano rock sound. I thought no other band could come close. That is, until I heard Wakey! Wakey!
Wakey! Wakey! may already be on your musical radar and you don’t even know about it. The single, 22, has been recently featured in a Honda advertising campaign. The song that really attracted me to this band, however, was a song off their album called Almost Everything. You can listen to that song and purchase their first full, studio length album Almost Everything I Wish I’d Said The Last Time I Saw You here. It serves as a great companion to Jack’s Mannequin’s Everything in Transit.

Dylan Owen releases his EP “Keep Your Friends Close”
There was a time in my life where, when asked what music I listened to, I said “well, I listen to everything…. except country and rap.” Little did I know then that there would be a day when I couldn’t stop saying the praises of a young up and coming rapper. His album is easy to listen to but his lyrics hit a little bit deeper. I especially like the spoken word part of the opener, and Landmarks (feat. Regina Zaremba), which is an acoustic track.
You can pick up his EP for FREE at dylanowenmusic.com, so what excuse do you have not to give it a try? I didn’t have one. Maybe one day soon I’ll come around to country.
If you like this, you’ll LOVE that: Mumford and Sons & Radical Face
There is a certain, very specific reaction I have to listening to The Cave by Mumford & Sons. One of the very first times I had listened to it, I was in a van in West Virginia. I leaned my head against the window and saw the entire world turn into a greenish brown blur as we wound our way around West Virginia’s infamous rural winding roads. Ever since that day, listening to Mumford & Sons seemed wrong anywhere else. It just didn’t fit.
Luckily, I found an alternative and he is amazing. Ben Cooper, a singer-songwriter from Jacksonville, Florida, has a musical endeavor called Radical Face. Every track makes you want to change your life or go on an adventure, just so you can have this song in the background. Welcome Home, Son is a personal favorite of mine. Listen to it here.
Hey Monday vs. Cassadee Pope?
With the announcement of Cassadee Pope’s solo career a few months ago, she promised fans that her former band, Hey Monday, wasn’t over and done with, even saying that she’d be playing a few Hey Monday songs on her acoustic, storyteller-type solo tour. However, this doesn’t mean things are all sunshine and roses in the Hey Monday camp. Mike Gentile took to twitter to (sarcastically) raise his concerns.
What do you think? Is Cassadee in the wrong for ditching the band in lieu of a solo career but still using the band’s merch and songs? Or is Mike overreacting? Take to the comments to discuss.
